Jiangxi Xinyu Aims to Be World Silicon Capital

Mar 03, 2010 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) - The central Chinese province of Jiangxi, which is known for china production, will arrange 38 key photovoltaic (PV) industry investment introduction projects worth CNY more than 31 billion in 2010, creating Xinyu City as the "World Silicon Capital".

According to its development strategy, the province intends to draw a total investment of CNY 220.2 billion in 14 major industries involved in solar energy PV, LED, deep processing of copper, tungsten, and rare earth, lithium battery, special ceramics, new-type building materials, as well as biological and new pharmaceuticals.

Its key PV industry investment attraction projects account for 14.1% of the total investment. Last year, only 16 ones were arranged by Jiangxi, with a CNY 13.1 billion investment.

Remarkably, most of the to-be-operated PV industry investment introduction projects are settled in Xinyu, central Jiangxi, such as a 1,000MW solar energy film cell project, a 120,000-ton solar energy silicon wafer cutting fluid project, and a 1,280-ton silver and aluminum paste used for solar module production project.
