Revolutionary Base Promotes Tourism


April 15, CCTV.com - Jinggangshan in east China's Jiangxi Province is known as the birthplace of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. The place is hailed as the cradle of the Chinese revolution and attracts many visitors from far and near every year. Recently a song and dance extravaganza called "Jinggangshan"was held, adding an artistic atmosphere to the revolutionary base.

After enjoying day time sight-seeing in Jinggangshan, visitors then have the opportunity in the evening to take in a stage performance inspired by revolutionary history.

A tourist said, "It's awesome! Fabulous! The performance has increased our understanding of the history."

"The show represents the former glory of Jinggangshan. I've learnt lots of new things." Said a tourist.

The evening performance "Jinggangshan" runs twice a day in the peak season.

It took the Jinggangshan Song and Dance Theater three years to perfect their performance. Directors, playwrights and stage designers came together to create the show that chronicles the major historical events that happened in Jinggangshan. A number of revolutionary songs are included in the performance, linked by elaborately choreographed dance pieces.

In recent years,Jinggangshan has become an attraction for domestic tourists interested in revolutionary history. Tens of thousands of tourists visit every year. The local authorities have invested tens of millions of yuan to establish the Jinggangshan Art Gallery and attract visitors. The gallery employs multi-media technology to re-create grand battle scenes, which makes it a must-see for tourists.

The Jinggangshan Art Gallery opened three years ago,and has so far received over 100-thousand tourists. It has earned more than 4-million yuan.

The local authorities have launched a series of activities, from singing competitions to photo exhibitions, to promote tourism and increase knowledge about Jiangxi. Last year alone, the province received over 32-million tourists from around the country.
