Jiangxi Copper Resumes Production At Yinshan Mine

Dec 28, 2009 (Dow Jones Commodities News via Comtex) - Jiangxi Copper Co. (600362.SH) said late Monday it has resumed production at its Yinshan mine, which was suspended late November due to a leakage in the overflow launder at the mine's tailings pond.

It said production was restarted Dec. 24, adding the incident didn't have any substantive impact on environment or security.

Jiangxi Copper had said the leakage was due to broken skew plates in the overflow launder, which separates various waste materials from the mining process.

Jiangxi Copper is China's largest copper smelter by output and its Yinshan mine has an annual copper capacity of 3,600 metric tons.
