ASUSTeK Speeds up Expansion in Jiangxi


May 07, JI'AN,  (SinoCast via COMTEX) - A production base invested by Pegatron Corporation under ASUSTeK Computer Inc. recently laid a foundation stone in Ji'an City, Jiangxi Province.

ASUSTeK Vice Chairman Tong Tsu-hsien remarked that the base's total investment amounts to CNY 3 billion, including USD 62.5 million for the first phase, which is designed to produce copper wire yarn and computer accessories. Later, the base will produce main boards and assemble notebooks. After the completion of the whole project, it will generate a production value of CNY 10 billion, and an export of USD 500 million to USD 1 billion each year.

Pegatron is operating the original equipment manufacturing (OEM) business of ASUSTeK. It controls subsidiaries like Hoso_Net Technology Co., Ltd., and Unihan Corporation. As the world's leading 3C (consumer electronics, computers and communications) producer, Pegatron mainly produces main boards, notebooks, and consumer electronic products for companies such as Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL). It has extended reaches to more than 20 countries and territories around the world.

Currently, ASUSTeK's domestic production bases are situated in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, and Nanhui District, Shanghai City, and its overseas bases are scattered in Czech Republic and Mexico.
