President Arroyo Meets with Meng Jianzhu

September 8, Jiangxi Daily ¨C Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo met with Jiangxi Province Friendship Mission led by Meng Jianzhu, Secretary of Jiangxi Provincial Committee of the CPC (Communist Party of China) and also Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Jiangxi Provincial People's Congress at the presidential palace in Manila September 7, 2005.

Arroyo welcomed Meng Jianzhu. Mr. Meng briefed on the social and economy development in China and Jiangxi Province. Arroyo expressed appreciation for the achievement in China and Jiangxi Province.

"Philippine Government and people value the Sino-Philippine relationship," said Arroyo, "Bohol Province and Cebu Province are both tourist attractions. China and Jiangxi Province are welcome to invest in Philippine infrastructural construction."

"Neighbor is closer than relative far away," said Mr. Meng, "China and Philippines are good neighbors and both developing countries. Sino ¨C Philippine economies are mutually complementary. Philippine enterprises are welcome to invest in Jiangxi. We can cooperate with each other in planting, food processing, tourism, culture, and education."
