August 24, CRIENGLISH.com - The Jingdezhen International Ceramics Fair is scheduled to open October 12 in China's ancient city of Jingdezhen, in China's eastern Jiangxi Province. Fair organizers made the announcement at a press conference in Beijing on Wednesday afternoon.
The weeklong fair, themed "A Gala of World Ceramics and A Platform for International Exchange", will feature exhibitions on Chinese and foreign ceramic products and technologies, art shows, auctions as well as discussions of the trade.
8000 overseas visitors from over 60 countries and regions are expected to attend the fair.
Jingdezhen is world famous for its fine porcelain, made since the Han dynasty (202 BC-AD 220) from the white clay, kaolin, found near Poyang Lake to the west.
The city reached its greatest fame under the Northern Sung dynasty (c.1000), when it supplied porcelain to the royal household.
