Jiangxi People Make Donation to Tsunami- hit Victims


The Jiangxi Red Cross called on residents of the province to offer a helping hand to the tsunami survivors in South and Southeast Asia

January 4, Jiangxi Daily - The Jiangxi Provincial Red Cross opened a 24-hour donation hotline and an account to help tsunami victims on January 1, and has so far received thousands of calls and ten thousands of yuan.

On January 2, a junior middle school student in Nanchang City, capital of Jiangxi Province, drew 200 yuan lunar New Year gift money from his mother in advance and donated to the Red Cross. Two senior citizens, making 5 calls to find the Red Cross office, donated 1000 yuan and 500 yuan respectively.

A 5- year- old child, accompanied by her mother, donated 5 yuan of her pocket money in the morning of January 3. In the same day, a man, surnamed Chen, donated 3000 yuan and a woman donated 500 yuan remaining anonymous.

The Red Cross has seen an increase in donations since the weekend from people of all walks of life, including company employees, students, the disabled, the elderly and children and many people have called to say they will be making their contributions.
