Farmers' Games Draw to End


 

October 23, (CCTV.com) - Friday was day 4 at the Farmers' Game, with most of the competitions drawing to an end in Yichun, in east China's Jiangxi province. The day's big winners were Fujian, Hunan, Chongqing and Guangxi: each province won five gold medals.

In the water-carrying event, Chen Xi and Ye Shuikun, both from Fujian, won the women's and men's events, carrying 155kgs and 182.8kgs of water to their destination in five minutes.

In the 60-meter sandbag carrying event, Hunan won the women's team event in 1 minute 27.56 seconds. The men's team title went to Chongqing.

In the seedling-throwing event, Wei Anyong from Guangxi took the gold with 25.44 meters.

The table tennis team events finished on Thursday afternoon. Hubei won the gold medal in the men's event, beating Guangdong 3-1. The women's event was a see-saw battle between Beijing and Jiangxi. The two teams were tied at 2-all after four sets. But in the decider, Yang Li beat Li Yu 3-2, helping Beijing win gold.

The table tennis singles finished on Friday afternoon. Zhu Xiaohong from Beijing, dominated the match from the start, and beat Zhang Dan from Guangdong in four straight sets, grabbing the gold in the women's singles. In the men's singles final, Qing Song from Hubei thrashed Xu Yanqiu from Heilongjiang 4-2.

Thursday night saw the final of the men's basketball event between Fujian and Guangdong. Guangdong was behind by 20 points by the end of the third quarter. But they bounced back ferociously in the fourth, winning the game 93-90.
